Christchurch General Surgery is the practice of Dr Richard Flint and Dr Steven Kelly, fellowship-trained Upper GI, general and bariatric surgeons available for consultation, endoscopy and surgery. Dr Coulter is now in semi-retirement after 35 years of a highly respected career as a consultant general surgeon in Christchurch. Although he no longer performs surgery, he is available to see patients for consultations, and he also performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Dr Coulter is in semi-retirement and no longer performs surgery. If your consultation or endoscopy shows that surgery is needed, he refers you directly to Dr Kelly or Dr Flint, so your care stays within the one practice.
No. All three surgeons accept direct referrals from patients. A GP referral is helpful because it brings your history and test results with you, but it is not required.

Preoperative testing typically includes gastroscopy. Oesophageal pH testing and manometry are arranged when clinically indicated.
